Doesn't Microsoft 365 already back up my email?
No. Microsoft and Google guarantee uptime and infrastructure availability — that's their part of the shared responsibility model. Backup and recovery of your data is your responsibility. Both vendors are explicit about this in their service agreements. If a user accidentally deletes a folder or ransomware encrypts a mailbox, native retention is short and the data may be gone for good.
What exactly gets backed up?
For Microsoft 365: Exchange email, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams chats, calendar, and contacts. For Google Workspace: Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and Contacts. Three times daily, automatically, with unlimited retention — meaning data stays recoverable for as long as you keep the service.
How fast can we restore a deleted file or mailbox?
Granular restores (a single email, a deleted file, one calendar event) typically complete in minutes. Full mailbox or large folder restores depend on volume but generally finish in hours, not days. We do the restore for you — there's no UI to learn.
Does this protect against ransomware?
Yes. SaaS Protection backups are stored separately from your live Microsoft 365 / Google environment, so ransomware that encrypts your live data can't reach the backups. We can restore to any point-in-time within the retention window — usually pre-attack.
What happens to backups when an employee leaves?
